A Safety Notice is issued by a member of the Police Force outside of normal Court hours i.e. Monday – Friday between 9:00AM – 5:00PM.

Safety Notices are commonly issued by Police upon attendance at a domestic dispute – basically such a notice has a similar effect to an Intervention Order in that it immediately prohibits a person from being within a certain distance of property and/or preventing that person from contacting the Affected Family Member.

It is important to note that the issuing of a Safety Notice has the effect of becoming an Application for an Intervention Order at Court – therefore the duration of such a notice will be until the matter is heard by the Court.
